What is Past Life Regression therapy?
Many people wonder what is really happening when a person regresses to a different time and space in the past life. It really does not matter whether you believe in reincarnation in order for the past life regression to be therapeutic. The important matter is that you access the subconscious mind which leads to the optimal/perfect solution for the present difficulties and painful situation. You will explore your past from a former lifetime (or former lifetimes) to early childhood.
In order to be therapeutic it is irrelevant for you to actually experience the past life; however, you can temporarily distance yourself from the present predicament long enough to open your mind to a greater understanding of the situation. Then, you can respond more favorably to the situation.
Inner Child
What is Inner Child?
The inner child is a metaphor for the very core of our being and is called our authentic self or our feeling self. It is our core belief which we hold and act upon. The most part of our core belief was formed at an earlier age (5-6 years or even earlier or later age) before we develop critical filter (sound judgment) and we receive faulty ideas of ourselves during this period of our development.
In order to survive and/or be accepted our authentic self or Inner Child goes into hiding and our false self is masquerading for self protection. As adults, our Inner Child is still in hiding, we continue to exhibit feelings of non-acceptance, unworthiness, and emptiness without understanding of our authentic self. These core beliefs remain in our subconscious and dominate our behavior into our adulthood. In many cases, these negative feelings of self-consciousness hamper our ability to fully experience life.
Rescuing & Nurturing Inner Child
The subconscious does not acknowledge the past; it only registers the Now. So, every time the core beliefs are triggered we revert back to the child who is experiencing the original event which caused the core belief in the first place. We do not accept it as the actual memory that is being triggered but perceive it as happening right Now. We are only conscious of the feelings—the feelings of not being good enough.
Whenever we encounter the events triggered, our subconscious mind gets activated and resurrects the pain of the past and brings it into our present moment, no matter how consciously we tell ourselves the difference. We continuously are affected adversely by them until we heal the false core beliefs.
By regressing back to the sensitizing event, the moment when the core belief was formed, the rescue work is possible for the wounded child because the subconscious mind does not know the difference between fact and fiction. The subconscious mind registers as fact when it imagines or it believes. By bringing the adult self who sees the big picture into the memory of the child, the subconscious is now able to experience a different outcome with new programming—being resolved by the adult rescuing the child.
In other words, when the adult level of thinking rescues the child level of thinking, the negative core belief is transformed into a healthy one while in the trance state.
